M3DLE visits MBO College Airport

M3a took off for MBO College Airport in Hoofddorp on Tuesday afternoon, bound for new mbo-destinations for their futures, should they choose so. With a warm welcome  from Mrs. Cornelissen, the group settled to learn more about the afternoon’s activities. Mr. Djajawasita took us through the activities planned and was assisted Miss Thodé from the English department in the Travel & Hospitality department.

Pupils were given a deadline and had to produce a holiday in the categories luxury, cultural or adventure in their groups and present this back to the full group. The ideas were in abundance and for some of the holidays a very deep wallet was needed too. The winner was clear, it was the group presenting on Florence, who had completed their homework and clearly presented back. This was followed up by Dubai and the group presented a luxurious holiday with a stay at the 6-star Bourg El Arab, with helicopter transfers from the first class Emirates flight at Dubai airport. The third group had ventured off to Australia first and were well underway but then the group changed their destination to closer to home, France and a ski and climbing holiday in the Alps.

On completion of this task, Mr. Djajawasita took the pupils through the timeline of a holiday and aligned each step to the courses on offer at the college, from holiday planners, to airport front line staff to support staff and facilities management, something that this group will be experiencing first hand next week when they fly off to Italy.

A tour of the location was next on the list and it allowed the group to see the extensive concourse of facilities available for the training, from security, to check in and to cabin services before heading to the viewing platform to see the engineering group working on planes in the hangar.

Whilst some pupils will choose a different route, others were impressed by what they saw and were personally invited to the Open Day scheduled for next month.
