Macerata day 3

The Italian sun was shielded today by a number of clouds that spattered us with some rain, however, the weather couldn’t have dampened the enthusiasm of our pupils during their exchange.

Today, the pace was a little more relaxed as the pupils spent some free time together in the morning, before being expected to meet the mayor of Macerata, who was unfortunately drawn away for a meeting and instead we were welcomed to Macerata by the Councillor for Culture, who whisked us through the importance of the region, the highlights in the city and of course her role in the council and her background in law.

A brisk walk followed and lunch was served at the school before our pupils worked with their counterpart thinking about the Mediterranean diet and the food pyramid and comparing that to ours in The Netherlands. Where the Italians normally eat 5-7 portions of fruit and vegetables a day, the Dutch pupils found that a little too much and fell back on the guidelines of 200g of vegetables and perhaps a piece of fruit at a push!

The international groups headed off in the afternoon for a little more retail therapy before saying ‘arrivederci’ and we then headed off to our hotel, for some more fabulous Italian cuisine.
