RSG Enkhuizen- time machine!

Friday, 11th October, our first year DLE pupils travelled back in time in our assembly hall to a time when children were neither heard nor seen; were deemed an annoyance and worthless in society…yes, we’re talking about England under the reign of Queen Victoria.

During this time, children worked in the sewers, ‘pure-finding’ looking for valuables in what was flushed down the toilets in the households at that time, some worked for the leatherman and used dog ‘poo’ for softening leather for making shoes. Others worked the mines or cleaned chimneys…what a difference for our young teens today.

Actors Leanne and Kyle took our pupils through their script and actions in an hour and had the pupils perform right in front of their parents…unbelievable to see how quickly our first years are at home in English just after 6 weeks at school. Compliments to the actors from Phileas Fogg who so tirelessly work with the pupils to perform some performances, just short of a listing for the Oscars!
