DLE 2 (mavo) explores the world of hospitality at the Vakantiebeurs in Utrecht

RSG Enkhuizen

Our DLE2 mavo (M2A) class had the exciting opportunity to attend the Vakantiebeurs in Utrecht as part of their BTEC studies. The trip offered students a hands-on experience to explore the vibrant world of hospitality and tourism, providing invaluable insights into this diverse and dynamic sector.

What is BTEC?
BTEC qualifications are designed to introduce students to work in a specific vocational sector—like hospitality in this case. Through a combination of practical activities and theoretical learning, BTEC helps students build essential skills and knowledge for their future. Combined with other qualifications, BTEC can open doors to further education, apprenticeships, or future jobs.

A Day Packed with Activities
At the Vakantiebeurs, students didn’t just learn about hospitality—they lived it! The day was filled with interactive activities that brought the world of tourism to life. From snowboarding and rock climbing to ice hockey and jeu de boules, there was no shortage of action. Students also had the opportunity to sample snacks from around the globe (even insects!), all while gaining an understanding of how cultures shape the holiday experiences travelers seek.

By immersing themselves in these experiences, M2A students explored how the hospitality and tourism industries cater to the needs of customers. They gained valuable insight into how these fields operate and how creativity and adaptability are essential to delivering unforgettable holiday experiences.

The trip was a perfect blend of fun and learning, offering students a practical look into their future careers. Experiences like this show how the world of hospitality is all about connecting with people, celebrating cultures, and creating memorable experiences. We can’t wait to see what’s next for our talented M2A students!
