A5 jets off for international work experience to Cyprus

Arrival and first impressions

Early on Sunday morning, we set off to catch the first flight to Cyprus. Fortunately, everything went smoothly, and we arrived in the early afternoon without any delays. After a short drive from Larnaca, we reached our hotel—our home base for the next 12 days.

After an early start to the day, we took some time to settle in, relax, and prepare for the busy days ahead.

Getting started in Limassol

Monday marked the official start of our programme. We began the day with a kick-off meeting at ShipCon, where we received an introduction to the programme and what to expect. For some, this was immediately followed by their first visit to the workplace.

Later in the day, we focused on setting our goals for the week and getting familiar with the city. To ensure that everyone could navigate Limassol with ease, we explored different ways of getting around before heading to the old town for a cultural visit.

Since teamwork is an essential part of this experience, we also made time for teambuilding. A highly competitive volleyball match with the locals quickly became a highlight, bringing out everyone’s enthusiasm and team spirit.

Erasmus + work placements and cultural exploration

On Tuesday, our students officially started their work placements. Since they all have different working hours, we have combined these internships with cultural visits to ensure a well-rounded experience. These activities are an important part of the Erasmus+ programme, as they contribute to learning beyond the workplace.

Today, half of the group visited the ancient site of Amathous before heading to work. The other half will explore this fascinating site later in the week. Next Tuesday, we will all visit the archaeological site of Kourion together. These two historical landmarks provide valuable insights into the city’s rich heritage and illustrate why Lemesos (Limassol) is known as “the one found in the middle.”
