Erasmus+ HEROES Project – Day 1 in Quimper
9 maart 2026
Our first full day in Quimper set the tone for an inspiring Erasmus+ exchange, bringing together our A3 TTO pupils with students from Spain and France to collaborate on HEROES—a project focused on supporting our planet through the lens of the Sustainable Development Goals.
We began the morning in true Breton style: a second breakfast of culinary treats featuring freshly made crêpes filled with Nutella. Energised and smiling, the international group headed into a series of sports activities designed to break the ice, build connections and not forgetting having some fun. This playful start reflected our strong TTO values of curiosity, communication and intercultural understanding.
In the afternoon, the focus shifted toward the core of the HEROES project. Pupils were introduced to Thursday’s final event: a full COP (Conference of Parties) simulation, to be held at the Provincial House. This hands-on experience will challenge them to think critically about global cooperation and sustainability—key pillars of both Erasmus+ and our Dual Language Education programme.
A highlight of the day was the workshop on generating clean electricity. In a wonderfully Dutch twist, students discovered just how much power can come from something we do instinctively at home: cycling. Ten immobilised bicycles were connected to a battery system and pupils happily pedalled their way to producing enough energy to run the afternoon’s film screenings. At one point, their collective effort even powered a toaster—proof that teamwork can spark tangible results. The session ended on a high with a DJ set fully fuelled by the students’ own pedalling power.
Back at the Collège, creativity took centre stage as pupils worked in Canva to design the banner for Thursday’s COP event. Their designs brought together themes of collaboration, sustainability, and hope—all central to the HEROES spirit.
In true Erasmus+ fashion, the day blended intercultural learning, hands-on discovery and meaningful teamwork. A powerful start to a week dedicated to shaping knowledgeable, globally minded young people who are ready to act for a more sustainable future.
