Junior Speaking Contest 2023

Celebrate this!

What then? That was the question posed to our second years in Dual Language Education! This year’s theme was “Celebrate this!” – a broad title that allowed our pupils to get creating and they didn’t disappoint!

The busy bees got to work and after class rounds of public speaking, the winning pupils from each class appeared on the main screen in the small assembly hall in front of all of the second and third years and the vote started!

The pupils didn’t make it easy for themselves with such varied speeches, often with lots of emotion added for good measure. Joeri pulled in the gold medal for his BBB speech celebrating the rights of the farmers in the latest Provincial Elections, followed closely by Bruce’s speech about celebrating August as his favourite month!

The audience voted on the havo finalists and the runner up was proclaimed Kenza with her personal speech about celebrating human rights, whilst Timo snatched gold with his speech about enjoying the small things in life! We all seem to be looking for the greater things in life, whilst the smaller things is where the most enjoyment is derived.

The excellent speech writers in mavo were celebrated next with their speeches on slavery and Keti Koti. [We don’t have permission to publish their names nor photos]
