Phileas Fogg Theatre Company Brings Victorian England to Life at RSG Enkhuizen

RSG Enkhuizen

This evening (Friday 3rd October), our first-year pupils in Dual Language Education were transported back in time to the harsh realities of Victorian England, thanks to the Phileas Fogg Theatre Company. In an interactive theatre workshop, the students stepped into the shoes of children from the 19th century—children who were “seen but not heard,” and who often lived difficult lives begging on the streets, working in the sewers or labouring in the coal mines.

The visit was extra special, as it marked the 20th time we have welcomed the Phileas Fogg Theatre Company to RSG Enkhuizen. Their performances have become a highlight of our DLE department, which is celebrating its two decades anniversary this year. Each time they return, it is a joy to watch how our pupils grow in confidence and creativity.

What makes these visits so impressive is the way the company manages to train students in both acting and spoken English in such a short time. With just one hour of practice, our pupils manage to bring two storylines together in one performance—a remarkable achievement that always leaves staff and students inspired.

We are proud to continue this long-standing collaboration and look forward to many more visits that spark imagination, language skills, and cultural awareness in our classrooms.
