RSG Enkhuizen Marks Record Year in English -language Education
2 december 2025
On Monday, 1 December, RSG Enkhuizen held its international diploma ceremony, this year split into two events. A total of 198 certificates were awarded to pupils from year 2 to year 6, as well as to alumni who returned to receive their international diplomas while now pursuing mbo or hbo studies. The beautifully decorated aula created an atmosphere full of positivity and celebration. Pupils proudly wore their mortarboards as they walked the stage and concluded each ceremony with the traditional hat throw, symbolising the successful completion of their international learning journey.
RSG Enkhuizen looks back on an exceptionally successful year in English education. With outstanding results across Anglia, Cambridge English, t-vmbo, IGCSE, and A-level Global Perspectives, the school has once again proven itself as the leading centre for English education in West Friesland.
This year, more than 55 candidates took part in ten different levels of Anglia examinations. Cambridge English also reached record numbers, with pupils taking and passing First (FCE), Advanced (CAE), and even Proficiency (CPE) exams. These internationally recognised qualifications highlight the strength and ambition of RSG Enkhuizen’s English curriculum.
Mrs Pieters, Cambridge English Coordinator, reflected on this special milestone:
“This is a special year for our school, as we celebrate 25 years of Anglia examinations. It is often seen as the spark that led to the highly successful Bilingual Education programme we have today.”
The innovative t-vmbo programme continues to attract national attention. Pupils completed a Vocational Studies course normally taken by older students in the UK and achieved outstanding results. Their real-world learning experiences included visits to the Holiday Fair in Utrecht, designing chocolates for a local entrepreneur, and an inspiring visit to the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel.
In the upper years, the school celebrated record results in IGCSE Global Perspectives, with performances at the highest international level among native speakers worldwide. A-level Global Perspectives pupils (atheneum) performed on par with UK students who are typically a year older. Research papers from havo and vwo pupils were assessed directly by Cambridge University—a remarkable achievement for learners just four to five years into their English education.
Mr Lewis, TTO Coordinator and CIE & BTEC Exams Officer, expressed his pride:
“A sense of pride courses through my veins every time I get to award a pupil an internationally recognised diploma. Who would have thought that Enkhuizen could open doors to such an international future for our pupils?”
With programmes spanning mavo through vwo, RSG Enkhuizen offers a unique English education pathway unmatched in the region. From foundational learning to internationally recognised examinations, our pupils repeatedly prove they can compete with the best in the world.
As two other Dutch schools prepare to launch their own t-vmbo departments inspired by RSG Enkhuizen’s success, it is clear that this year represents not only the culmination of hard work but also genuine innovation.
RSG Enkhuizen proudly confirms its position as the leading centre for English education in West Friesland.
