The HEROES have arrived for Part III of the Erasmus+ project

Erasmus+ HEROES programme launched today at the RSG Enkhuizen with pupils from the Havo and Atheneum Dual Language Education classes taking part alongside their fellow exchange pupils from Spain and England.

After some fun activities in the morning, getting to know one another and learning more about our school, DLE, the town and our work on sustainability at the school, we started looking at Sustainable Development Goal 10: Reducing Inequalities. With icebreakers confronting pupils with inequality through the games and challenging them to think differently, the groups set about writing down all of the inequalities they see in life. The largest list was 24 in number. They were then set the task to think of solutions to these issues on a national, community and a personal level.

The afternoon was filled with workshops given by members of staff, looking at: Gender Equality, LGBTQIA+, and with practical sessions with wheelchair basketball clinic given by Paralympian Paul Toes and blind football, where the pupils had to really listen for the bell in the ball to be able to play the sport.

Articles about their first day were written with reflections about inequalities in society and actions that we need to take were discussed in groups and added to the digital newspapers!

We’re hoping the weather won’t spoil our plans for tomorrow!
